Make Your Home Look Less Cluttered

A cluttered house can be very stressful to come home to. Home should be your sanctuary, a place where you can go at the end of the day and just relax and unwind, and it can be very difficult to do that if your home is a mess. If you want to declutter your home but don’t know where to start, here are a few helpful tips:

Declutter Your Bathroom

The best way to declutter your home is to do it one room at a time, and probably the best place to start would be the bathroom. The bathroom is one of the hardest working and most used rooms in any home. Because it’s used so frequently by multiple members of the household, it can be especially prone to becoming cluttered.

Start by clearing off your sink and putting all the random products on it in a proper storing place. Keeping your sink clutter-free is easier if there isn’t a lot of space to rest objects on it. You might want to consider installing a freestanding sink from Badeloft, a company that makes different types of sinks as well as standalone bathtubs.

Their sinks and bathtubs are all made from high quality stone resin, a lightweight yet durable material that mimics the elegantly refined look of natural stone without the hefty tag price. They come in all shapes and sizes, so you can surely find a sink or tub to fit your bathroom perfectly. The best part is that they all feature a beautifully sleek, modern design, which can help give your bathroom a cleaner, neater appearance. For more bath tub ideas, check out the Badeloft website.

Have a Place for Everything

After decluttering your home, you’ll want to keep it clutter-free, and the key to this is to have a designated place for everything. For example, dirty clothes belong in the laundry hamper, while clean clothes must be put away. Don’t allow items to languor and remain anywhere it doesn’t belong, such as leaving freshly laundered clothes sitting on your bed all week until they inevitably fall off and get wrinkled or mussed.

You don’t need to run out and spend hundreds of dollars on baskets or storage bins, though it can be very aesthetically pleasing to have matching storage solutions throughout your home. A more practical solution would be to reuse materials you already own.

For example, you can use old shoe boxes to store small toys or keep arts and crafts materials. A mismatched shallow dish or bowl would make a great catchall to put on a table in the foyer for all your random knick knacks like keys and coins. Be creative and use your imagination; keeping your home neat and organized doesn’t have to cost a lot.

Pare Down Your Belongings

Chances are you’ve been holding on to a lot of items and clothing you no longer need. This is a good chance to get rid of some of them and perhaps donate them to people who might need them more. You might also consider having a garage sale if you have a lot of items in good condition that you can sell. Paring down your belongings can be a very time-consuming task, so be sure to set aside enough time to complete the job, otherwise you might be tempted to abandon it halfway through.

These simple tips are easy to do but can make a world of difference towards making your home look less cluttered. Stop procrastinating and start taking small steps towards decluttering your home. You deserve to come home to a clean, pleasant and relaxing home every day.
