The Changing World of Dallas Interior Design

Texans are well known for interesting and forward-looking interior design.  Old-fashioned ideas don’t work in Dallas because the residents of Dallas take interior design very seriously.  See below to stay up-to-date when it comes to new interior design elements.

Color

When thinking about their interior design Dallas residents should focus on color as their first important consideration.  Many experts in Dallas today say that painting everything white with white furniture and appliances is now totally out of style.

Websites of all the best Dallas designers agree that white is on its way out.  According to a few architects, some white accent spots work well, but too much white is just plain too much white.

The premier Dallas interior designers recommend darker jewel tones.  They also see some bohemian touches in today’s decorating with maybe some floral wallpapers.  These designers state that animal prints are continuing to be important.

Texture

Although the exteriors of homes today are mixing two different sidings along with brick, the days of interior building texture like shabby wood siding and burned wood wall accents are over.  Today interior designers in Dallas focus on simplicity and good craftsmanship in interior building materials.

Many interior designers are saying that anything metallic is on-trend. Using metal instead of wood is more modern. Owners don’t have to try to make sure that all their hardware matches anymore.  Mixing bronze and silver in the bathroom shows individual flair.

Many kitchens are sporting porcelain countertops.  Not only are they a new idea, but they are virtually indestructible and come in many new colors.

An important aspect of today’s interior design texture is the incorporation of greenery.  Gone are the days when silk trees looked tacky.  If you don’t like taking care of live greenery, silk flowers and trees today look more real than real. Bringing an element of nature into the home softens the look and soothes the soul.

Another element of texture that is important today is in furnishings.  Interior designers are using more textured throw pillows and also more textured sofas and chairs.

Technology

In today’s world of interior design, residents have to be concerned about how technology fits into their design.  Voice-activated smart applications need to be built into the design so that they don’t overwhelm the color, texture, light, and lines of your rooms.

Space

Finally, interior design in Dallas focuses on the use of space.  Individualism is highly prized in today’s decorating trends.  Many residents use their space to showcase a collection of objects that are dear to their hearts. Others want to use their space to show breathtaking views from their windows.

Open-space floor plans continue to be popular.  In this plan, the formal dining room is being phased out.  The same way a separate living room used to be included with a separate family room, these days designers skip the formal dining room in favor of a more comfortable place where all family activities can take place.  Overall, less formality is being found in newly decorated homes.
