How You Can Make Packing for a Move Much Easier and More Organised

Let’s face it – one of the most daunting tasks when it comes to moving is making sure all your items are properly packed. Packing items is no joke, and it’s always best to start as early as you can. The experts actually recommend packing your things as early as a month or so before your prospective move, especially if you have a lot of things (or a lot of clutter). And packing has to be done in the proper way, as well – you have to make sure fragile or delicate items are well-protected in their boxes, and the same is true for packing and preparing furniture, gadgets, and electronic equipment. So what else should you bear in mind when packing for your move? Here’s how you can make packing for a move much easier and more organised.

Packing your breakables properly

You already know that breakable items such as china, picture frames, vases, and the like are extremely delicate and would be at most risk of becoming damaged during a move. With this in mind, pay particular attention to how you pack them in their boxes and make sure to label the boxes accordingly. It also pays to use as much protective wrapping as you can; bubble wrap, newspapers, and even linen and towels should do the trick. When packing dishes, stack them vertically rather than horizontally, and pad both the bottom of the box and the top with towels or cloth.

Here’s another tip for delicate items such as bottles containing liquid, as recommended by removals experts from www.andrews-removals.com: make use of plastic wrap. Remove the bottle or container’s lid and then cover the container’s opening using plastic wrap. You can then replace the container’s lid, making sure to secure it as tightly as possible. This will help you avoid leaks in case the containers fall over during your move.

Packing your clothes properly

Most of us have a lot of clothes – and we’re not just talking about light clothing for the summer, either. We also have to deal with winter or seasonal clothing, which can be quite heavy and cumbersome. When it comes to clothing, however, you have a few options. You can, for instance, buy some wardrobe boxes, which are especially handy for more expensive clothing such as suits and cocktail dresses, and you can choose wardrobe boxes in different heights to suit your needs. The beauty of wardrobe boxes is that you can simply move your clothing items with their hangers directly from the closet to the wardrobe box. If you are on a budget, however, you can always make use of rubbish bags. Just cover your clothes with rubbish bags while they are still in the closet, then tie the tip of the rubbish bag with space for the hangers to stick out.

You can also make use of towels, clothes, and linen as filler for your boxes, as already mentioned. It’s an economical way to ensure that your delicate items are well-protected, and you can also use socks and washcloths rather than packing peanuts to prevent shifting within the boxes. With this, you don’t have to use too many boxes, and you can also save on your packing supplies and materials.
