Practical for regulating the temperature of a home, the thermostat is a modern tool offering many functions and many advantages. What is its precise use, how to choose the right model for your needs and how to use it effectively? The answers to these questions in this practical guide.

The thermostat: for what use?

The thermostat is a rather old device, designed to better control the temperature of equipment or devices whose temperature is variable. Example of a car, a boiler or an oven.

Initially, it found its first application in the industrial sector, before being integrated into home automation systems. Thus, it is now used in your home as a temperature regulator. Connected to the heating system, it keeps a room or the entire home at a constant temperature.

How does the thermostat work?

In general, the device is in the form of a small box with a digital screen or a graduated dial to turn. The screen or the dial allow you to program the desired temperature with precision. Once this has been set, the device controls the room temperature and, in the event that the degree of heat is lower than the programmed value, sends a signal to the boiler to start up.

Note that there are certain types of thermostats that allow you to program the temperature depending on the rooms and times of the day.

Optimal use of the thermostat: how to do it?

By regulating the temperature, the thermostat can save money on your energy bill. For efficient use, you must therefore know how to program it well.

So, when you are away, set the temperature to 16 or 17 ° C to avoid heating the house when it is empty while maintaining a good room temperature. When you are there, vary the programming according to your activities: 18 ° while you are in the kitchen and the oven is on or when you are about to sleep; 21 ° when you are at rest, but awake; 19 ° when you are active.

Basically, well used, Thermostats will allow you to save money and heat your rooms according to your needs. If you wish to equip yourself with it, do not hesitate to call on one of the professional heating engineers from blackhawk supply for the installation.
