Does A Trench Need to Be Dug to Repair Your Sewage Lines?

If you are having problems with your sewage system, you might have heard that you’ll have to replace your sewer lines. It’s a messy process that requires a lot of your yard to be dug up in the process. Nobody ever wants to deal with the inconvenience of sewer services Bellevue WA, but it’s sometimes the only option. Fortunately, there are some cases in which digging a giant trench in the yard isn’t your only option.

One of the most common causes of problems with your sewer lines is tree roots that have grown through your system. These roots can tear pipes apart over time and cause a huge problem in your yard and plumbing. Some people suggest using copper sulfate in and around the areas of your sewage lines as many believe it can repel tree roots from growing in the area. This may work temporarily, but chances are the roots will eventually grow into the are over time anyway.

In most cases, your homeowner’s insurance will not include coverage for your sewage lines if the problem is something that has occurred over time. However, it’s sometimes possible to add an endorsement to your policy to cover your drains and sewers that usually costs around $100 extra a year. Before you add this endorsement or get a separate protection plan, you need to make sure to look closely into the policy to get an idea of what is actually covered and more importantly, what is not.

It’s almost always a very bad idea to try to work on sewage lines by yourself. Not only is the process difficult if you don’t know what you’re doing, but it could also be illegal if you do not have the proper licensing and permits to complete the work. If you hire a professional for your sewer services, you don’t have to worry about the process and you will know the process is being completed legally so you don’t come across problems later down the line.

The sewage pipes in most older homes are much more fragile than the systems built more recently. Over time, they are destined to break at some point and will need to be completely replaced or repaired. There are also more now when it comes to repairing sewage lines than ever and some of them are becoming more and more commonly used.

While replacing a sewage line after digging a trench probably never sounds that appealing, it’s sometimes the best option. If a home is located close to the city sewer, excavation can be the cheapest option by far. This type of method is used in the majority of sewage projects today.

One of the more popular alternative options for replacing sewage lines is a method known as a pipe bursting. This is when a new pipe is pulled through a broken or damaged pipe. While it is being pulled through, the only pipe is also being fractured outward. This method is considered to be very durable and many agree it’s just as sturdy as pipelining.
