A Grander Home: Do These 8 Home Improvement Projects

Some homeowners may shy away from renovation projects because they can be expensive. However, if you consider how an improvement may bring plenty of benefits, you may want to think it over.

Home improvement not only enhances the way you live and use the property. But with key changes or additions, this project can also increase the overall market value of your property.

Best Home Improvement Projects

The key to a well-managed renovation that isn’t going to cost a fortune is to figure out which parts need improvement. If you’re strapped for cash but still want to go ahead with the project, focus on one room and renovate the rest when you have the funds. Not all rooms in your home have to be changed.

Try the following:

  1. Outdoor Kitchen

There’s one activity that’s the staple of neighborhood communities, and that’s none other than barbecue parties. Grilling meat over an open fire is an integral part of building communities. And if you’re oftentimes the host at parties like this, you may want to consider installing an outdoor kitchen. Barbecue grills and smokers are for beginners; a full kitchen outdoors means you’re serious about cooking over fire.

  1. Patio

The addition of a patio allows you to extend living space, giving plenty of options to enjoy your backyard. You could spend your intimate family gatherings there or install a fire pit for quiet nights at home with your loved one. A well constructed patio isn’t just functional and pleasing to the eye, but it should also stand the test of time.

  1. Garage

A garage improvement or addition can lift the market value of your property. For one, it provides secure parking in a neighborhood. For another, it offers space for hobbies and storage. Any home improvement that adds square footage is a good investment because you can list the property at a premium price.

  1. Garden

A garden adds a calming vibe to your home. The benefits of gardening will also generally make you healthier. However, before you start planting flowers, fruits, or vegetables there, consider asking a professional for landscaping ideas to make sure the garden perfectly complements your home when it grows fully.

  1. Second Story

If your bungalow house seems to be too cramped for you and your growing family, why not turn the entire first floor into a living area and move all the bedrooms to the second floor? Installing a second story is beneficial for those who are slowly building their own family. However, you may want to consider a few things before adding a second story. This huge project can be expensive, and you have to determine whether your house’s foundation can withstand it in the first place.

  1. Porch

Just like the addition of a patio, enclosing your house with a porch can significantly improve your home as well. Not only does it increase your home’s market value, but it will also improve the overall appearance of your home from the outside. Just remember that the porch should complement the house, and it should be accessible.

  1. Attic

If you need more room for your other unused items and you’re not quite sold on the idea of turning your garage into a storage unit, you can always choose to install an attic. Aside from being a storage unit, there are also plenty of other things you can do with your attic. It can be a bedroom, man cave, music room, or any other thing you would need space for.

  1. Roof Deck

Who doesn’t love walking outside early in the morning to catch the first rays of the sun while sipping a cup of coffee? There’s no better place in your home to do that than on a roof deck. This space can be used for plenty of fun activities for your entire family, and it can also provide a resting place for you when you need quiet times on your own. Just be sure to check with your local government first regarding regulations on home development and extensions.

Aside from being just generally livable, your house should also be a place for comfort, relaxation and fun. If your home does not permit this, consider a few improvement projects. With the key changes or additions, you’ll enhance the property’s livability as well as market value.
