The gutters are usually installed on the edge of the roof. It has a main function to accommodate and drain the rainwater that falls on the roof of the house. The presence of gutters is effective to prevent rain water accumulation that can cause weathering on doors, windows and walls. However, it can turn into a problem when the dirt blocks it. The rain water can’t flow in it and the water may leak around. Sure, you need to solve it as soon as possible. There are some steps to remove the dirt as well as clean the gutter. This way, it can be back to work normally. What are they?

Remove the plug from inside the pipe

First of all, you need to remove the plug from inside the pipe. Yes, if water doesn’t flow smoothly in the downward ledge, it means dirt is clogging it. You can try to spray water with high pressure to push the plug out. If it doesn’t work, you may need to use a tool like a stick to pull or push it. To make it easier, you can use a borer commonly used by plumbers. The borer is often called an auger.

Another problem that often happens in gutters is the clog from leaves, dust and other debris that is carried by the wind. In the end, rain water will stagnate so that it causes corrosion on metal gutters. Later, gutters can be simply damaged also. To avoid the problem, gutters need to be cleaned regularly even if it is not the rainy season. You can also check the 100 percent commission real estate company GA.

Spraying the Gutters with a Hose

Second, you must spray the gutter’s interior with a hose. It is after all dirt has been removed. Run the water along the drain and the pipe is put in a sloppy position. It is better if the hose used is equipped with a pressure regulator to turn on and off.  If necessary, you can also scrub the gutter with a brush while spraying with water.

Check the Gutter’s Performance

Basically, the ways to clean the gutter have ended in step number two. However, it is much better if you also check the performance of the gutter. To do it, pour the water to the gutter and make sure that it flows well to the ground through the pipe. If the water amount that comes out from the lower pipe is less, it means that there is still blockage in the middle of the gutter or the pipe. Sure, it means you should repeat the process from the beginning.

Pay attention to the safety factor

The most important thing is that you must pay attention to the safety factor. Gutters are located on the upper area of your house. Sure, checking and cleaning it means that you must go up using stairs. So, make sure to do it when the weather is good, not rainy or snowy. Besides, you must wear things to support this activity like boots and gloves. To protect your head, it is not bad to wear a safety helmet. Well, this thing is even very important to prepare at home.
