Window Styles That Instantly Add Space to Your Home

Adding custom windows to your home is one way to get more out of your space and give your property a little more curb appeal. Beautiful windows add light and warmth to your home, and they can also give your space the illusion of more room if you live in a small house. Choosing the right style and window size can help you expand a small space and make it appear roomier and more comfortable. Here are some of the best options for windows that instantly add space to your home.

Table of Contents

  • Bay Windows
  • Window Seats
  • French Doors
  • Casement Windows
  • Bow Windows

Bay Windows

One of the most popular window options for homeowners looking for a little extra space in their room is a bay window. This type of window extends your room’s square footage by jutting outside of the dimensions of the exterior. A bay window can also give your space a tiny spot to store items such as books or plants. Bay windows also let in much more light than the traditional window options, allowing more sunshine to come into your home.

Window Seats

Another window idea that gives you more space for less is a window seat. You’ll need an exterior wall space that has enough room for two or three large windows to create this cozy spot. Then, all you need to do is add a seating area to complete the upgrade. Your contractor can add a built-in bench against the window or bring in a piece of furniture to create the seating area.

French Doors

French doors are also a popular choice for homeowners who want to open up a small room to the outside. French doors are most common for rooms that venture out into the property’s backyard. Not only do these doors let in loads of light into your tiny, cramped space, but they also provide a little extra elegance to an ordinary room.

Casement Windows

If your space has an unusual shape or other problems, you can still add some light and space to it with casement windows. This window style opens outward to the exterior instead of sliding up or inside of your room. Unlike other window styles, casement windows don’t need any hardware in the middle of the window, giving you a clear and clean view of your favorite outdoor area. You can work with your glass repair and replacement services contractor to create a wall of casement windows. This look will help your home seem more spacious and airy.

Bow Windows

The last window style that helps expand your room’s living space is a bow window. Bow windows jut out beyond the home’s perimeter similar to a bay window. Contractors can give you more options with a bow window, offering different designs that include four or more individual window pieces. Instead of being angular like a bay window, a bow window can be designed in a curve, giving your home a unique style accent.

With these window options, you can add something to the layout of your home to give it a few inches of more space. Your home’s exterior façade will benefit, and you and your family will feel more spacious and comfortable with the look inside, too.
